Eco Camp (Damai, Sarawak)
1 hour 15min flight from Singapore
to Kuching and 30 mins by bus to camp.
Camp Permai is located at the foothills
of Gunong Santubong and right next to the South China
Sea.
The camp is nestled in the midst of
a tropical rainforest and bath by jungle streams flowing
into the sea. A rocky beach forms the frontage.
The
best of tropical rainforest and sea can almost be found
at the doorsteps.
It is next to Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon
Resort and Damai Beach Resort.
It is also near the award-winning Sarawak
Cultural Village.
Various
accommodations are available ranging from log cabins,
tree houses to just plain campsite using tents. The
campsite is fully equipped with standard obstacles both
high and low elements, lecture and jungle halls.
Outdoor activities beside the obstacle
course include jungle trekking, jungle night walk and
kayaking.
Various waterfalls scatter throughout
the jungle provide rewarding destinations for the jungle
treks.
Gunong Santubong offers a full day
mountain trekking for the more energetic.
Outside of camp, Bako National Park
offers a full day outing to 7 distinct tropical ecosystem
including mangrove, rainforest and hill swamp.
For
the culturally inclined just 5 mins walk from the camp
are Sarawak Cultural Village. It is large area showcasing
recreated traditional houses of the various ethnic groups
of Sarawak with interior decorated to match the original.
Locals dressed in their traditional costumes and carry
out traditional activities.
A storyteller in each of these houses
to describe its culture.
Cultural dance performance twice
a day in village theatre.
